What is it about facebook that makes people try to pass themselves off as someone they clearly are not and when the ploy is so obviously transparent? 

We don't live in the United States of America or China where no one beyond your small circle of work colleagues and friends knows who you are.

 This is Malta with a population of less than half a million. People and their faces are known, especially if you've made a couple of appearances in the media. And if you are not known, a couple of phone calls will do the trick.

So here is Ronnie Pellegrini on facebook: "Good Morning - Take all your chances while you can, because you never know when they'll pass you by.?" And to accompany this thought he put up the stomach-churning design above.

I have spoken to people who used to be terrorised by Ronnie Pellegrini when he was Lorry Sant's thug. Thirty years later he's back in the Partit Laburista trying to pass himself off as a new age guru decked out in rays of light and nauseating heart designs.
