Malta (Labour) Today

Labour's Saviour?
NET TV and One TV are both heavy financial burdens on the political parties which own them. Had they been commercial enterprises they would have gone belly up a long, long time ago.

Yet curiously, One TV is now advertising its programmes on Malta (Labour) Today's site.

Visit it now and you'll see an advert for a Super One programme called Star Makers. I took a screen shot of it (below) just in case Malta Labour Today decide to remove it.

Let's see, now how can One TV - a financial disaster - afford advertising it? Why advertise on Malta (Labour) Today rather than say The Times or The Malta Independent online?

Could it perhaps be the case that Saviour Balzan and Roger de Giorgio, the owners of Malta (Labour) Today, are giving free advertising space to the Partit Laburista through a cosy little arrangement? What am I saying, of course not.

Would Savour Balzan, who has become - literally - part of the furniture on the Super One news set, even dream of paying Labour back with free advertising? Absolutely unimagineable. Malta (Labour) Today would never dream of being in financial cahoots with the Malta Labour Party.

Hardly surprising.

I always thought that TV stations sell airtime to producers with the latter being responsible to promote / advertise their programmes. Seems like I was wrong.

Comments on this post from facebook:

Edward Fenech: interesting...but then Times has given PN free advertising every day for the last 30 years, thanks to someone who I don;t need to mention.

Nicholas Farrugia: like xandir malta where's everybody lou

Bobby Engerer: Means they had something to offer for 30 whole years Ed I think. Others were discarded for 30 years because they had nothing to offer and they still have nothing to offer till today.

David Farrugia: there was even an advert for one newscasters on yesterday's issue of malta today.

The show's website states the following:

"A co-production of Melanie Kelly of Breakthru Media Works (grls@wrk) and Natalie Muschamp from Choices Entertainment International in collaboration with TAKE 2 and ONE."

Is it possible that the people mentioned above advertised or are we certain that it was Super one?
