Maltatoday - The Movie

Is there anybody in there?
The Maltatoday website lists the following as non-staff bloggers - Caroline Muscat, David Friggieri, Evarist Bartolo, Frank Portelli, Michael Briguglio, Michael Falzon and Toni Abela.

None of them, however, has blogged for the last month. Not a single word. Most have'nt for 2-3 months.

Apart from a single post by Carmen Sammut - which was just a puff piece of self-exultation and which attracted 0 comments - MaltaToday has no bloggers left except three staff members.

Of these three in-house bloggers, the only one who posts semi-regularly is Saviour Balzan, the managing editor. He sometimes writes his posts but frequently opts for an angry, slightly unhinged eye-balling piece to camera.

MaltaToday's blogging department is beginning to look like a Stephen King novel turned into a movie blockbuster. We're in the middle of nowhere, deep in American midwest. An aerial camera zooms in on a windswept asylum perched on a hill. One by one, the psychiatrists and staff quitely take flight for some mysterious reason. The look in their eyes as they leave suggests that they harbour some dark secret. But we are never told what it is.

By the end of the movie, the only one left is a patient who walks the asylum's corridors muttering to himself that he's now the director. The aerial camera zooms out, the credits roll up.

Note: Your comments are most welcome. Ideally, you'd sign in your real name. But if you choose to remain anonymous, please use a pseudonym and stick to it. This will avoid the confusion caused when different people sign 'Anonymous'. Thanks

A question comes to mind spontaneously: where's everybody?

Right on cue, Raphael Vassallo, one of the in-house bloggers, uploads his contribution: a long meandering rant against the Church.

Lou, there are comment plugins and widgets that you can install in Blogger that are much better than the one provided by Blogger

@Antoine,

and manages to fail miserably in his theosophic arguments.

Annulment is not rectification of a mistake, but a declaration that the marriage never existed in the first place.

A mistake cannot exist if it never happened.

@Mr.A.Vella, when Maltatoday gurnalists run out of steam ,they fall back to some good old- fashioned Church-bashing .Goebbels used the similar tactics with his anti-semitic tirades to keep Germans distracted.

Antoine and Lou,

you might have a good educational background, i would never argue about this, but where you are lacking is in the emotional department. I'd like to say "emotionally challenged" - in a politically correct manner.
If there are no hot topics around..why not warm up the old feud with MT (or PL bashing alternatively)..
Bashing for the sake of bashing?
