Tried to hide your shame, Ton?

If you've read the post "Toni Abela's indecent exposure" you might wish to join me in a little detective work to get to the bottom of a little mystery. If you haven't read it, you can't join us I'm afraid.

Without fail, every PL press release gets aired on ONE TV with the same militancy as a gospel passage from the pulpit. So last night at 7.30, I plonked myself on the recliner at my new ITU home in the bowels of Mater Dei to watch One TV's newscast bash me around with their owner's press release. The local news sailed by, nothing. The foreign news, the boring local news, nothing, the really boring local news, nothing. And they went to sports news. Weird, I thought. Why did the PL station not report a PL press release as it always does?

After a night on the recliner, I stumbled upstairs to get the papers from the hospital stationers. Lo and behold, l-Orizzont did not report it either. Now why did the PL daily paper in everything but name also fail to report a PL press release which viciously lays into me, something they normally relish doing. Things were getting wierder.

Quite intrigued, this evening I decided to dip into the PL's own site where they upload all the party releases. The press release against me, issued on 5 July, is not there. And then the penny dropped. Toni Abela was ashamed of the press release and resorted to the oldest trick in Josef Stalin's book. He tried to erase history. Unfortunately, such dark tricks don't work in a democracy and less so in the age of the internet.

Yesterday it was established that Toni Abela has no sense decency or political magnanimity. Today I feel more optimistic about him. At least he is still able to feel shame. Its a start.

Lou I think Toni does not like your guitar playing - and he has a house in Qala!

The sad thing Lou is that people just don't realise how shameless and lacking in compassion and intellectual prowess this lot are. I have no doubt that the PL will win the next election by default and many will regret it within 12 months. Those will be the traditional Nats that have voted for PL 'because we are tired of the Nats and it is time to change.

It reminds me of a friend of mine who happens to be a renowned medical professional most readers would know. As a man with a brain he would normally have voted Nat. in 96, a few days after the election, he declared "We'll be fine - don't worry - this will be good for the country". He said it with that tone that indicated he had voted for change. I opined that I did not think it was OK at all and that the economy would suffer as would our international credibility - and we had not heard of Joe Cuschieri then....

The rest, as they say, is history and two years later that same professional was waving the maduma on the Sliema Seafront. That was 96 when we had a misguided but intellectual PM who's heart was in the right place even if his policies were totally screwed - remember the CET?!

The situation that presents itself now is MUCH worse. We have a PL party leadership that is intellectually devoid, has no scruples and will do anything to garner a vote. If and when they get into power they will feel like they are playing a game...does anyone really think they give a stuff about the repercussions?

They will continue to treat us like the imbeciles that watch Super One and wave red flags at Mass Meetings. You will interview cittadini the following week and they will declare that Jowsef will drop elec tariffs by 80%.

They treat people like shit and they keep voting for them because they know no better and they cannot figure out that the only reason they have a decent job is because the nasty Nats managed the country so well.

Tal-biki Lou.....il-vera tal-biki!

I cannot but agree totally with what has been aptly described in the comments, no more words are needed. One more thought: Don't forget the past or we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes.
