No for Gonzi you say?

'Houston, we have a problem'
The 'No For Gonzi' facebook group dishes out the same boring recipe of hate-speech, hysteria and ignorance served up in almost incomprehensible English and Maltese.

Their adulation for Joseph Muscat would probably make even him blush with embarrassment.

On 27 August at 16:52, for instance, they put up this gem "ejjeww HUTI MALTIN naghmlhu il page tal messiah BIGGER .. together we can !" There's more, much more. Just dip in and take a look.

Alas, there is a slight problem. The pathological illiteracy of this group's creators led them to call themselves almost the opposite of what they wanted to be known for.

Unable to think in English, they thought up the name 'Le ghal Gonzi' and translated it literally to 'No For Gonzi' - which is non-sensical - instead of 'No to Gonzi'.

Indeed, with the addition of a tiny comma, they instantly morph into a group which believes that Lawrence Gonzi is the Messiah - 'No, For Gonzi'.

What morons. And to top it all, 3,000 people are listed as liking this group. Dolores Cristina, the Education Minister, must be banging her head against the wall.

Indirectly it does highlight the appalling (<-- understatement) state of the current knowledge of English grammar in Malta.

"This group is not affiliated with any political party."

"This is no hate group but a DISAGREEMENT GROUP with all that's BAD under Gonzi rule."

What "this group" actually is - an insult to my intelligence.
I'm ashamed to say that I have a few friends who have joined. Mama mia!
Goes to show, you never really know anyone until their true ignorance level is revealed by what "group" they join on Facebook.

If this facebook page is anything remotely similar to the revolting tasteyourownmedicine.com, then Oxford's online dictionary may well avoid explaining what the said adjective above means. All one needs to do is read one or two posts...load of tosh is too polite a phrase to describe those responsible.
