Thanks Carlos, you took us to heaven

Santana's concert was one of the best to ever be put up in Malta. What made it so? I could rattle off a list of ingredients. There was the signature guitar sound of the man himself, the unflappable bass anchoring it, the multicoloured inventiveness of the three percussionists, the warm raunchiness of the two singers, the tidal waves of the keyboards buoying the entire band, and much more.

But even putting all these ingredients together does not do justice to the evening's magic. There was something else hovering over everything and keeping it all together: Carlos and his band were having fun, it was contagious and everyone caught the bug. That is why they had the normally sedate Maltese audience on its feet almost from beginning to end.

The generosity of musical spirit could almost be touched. I am informed that contractually the band had to play for an hour and a half. They ended up playing for over two and a half hours. That is an artist who loves his craft and loves to share it, as he has been doing for over four decades. Unlike Snoop whats-his-name, Carlos did not kick journalists out of the room for asking him why he kept them waiting for four hours. Instead, he gave his Maltese audience an extra hour of his beautiful music.
True to the name of his last album, Carlos Santana took us all to guitar heaven.

One of the best musical experience of my life! I totally agree that he was just up there enjoying himself and sharing his musical blessings with us. What is amazing is he was doing this after almost 2 months on the road and 20 some shows later... wish I had 1% of his joy! Thank you Carlos!

mmmm ... I find it very journalistic to diss a singer to elevate another singer. Though Santana is reknowned worldwide for his talent, 'Snoop whats-his-name' is reknowned thrice over for HIS talent. So let us not be so prejudiced towards an artist for giving a well deserved wake-up call to journalists. Let us remember that really important artists hate journalists because of their well-known and infamous attitude ... Santana on the contrary being very much on the decline woulod never do something like that to journalists.

It was an awesome concert. True to the fact that for the 3hr show, I like the audience just couldn't stop dancing. His music takes control of one's soul and spirit which results in unabetable body moves that gives anyone an euphoric high. Santana Rules. Noel Portelli

i had been looking forward to attending the show ever since it was announced the super gr8 guitarist Carlos Santana was visiting our little rock....i do understand that considering the circumstances the venue had to be changed. Thats the problem. Such a fanastic artist with an excellent group of musicians helping him create super tunes. Problem is that where i was standing the sound was not good. I am being nice. All d music playing at one go just sounded like noise and confusion. It obv was not d artist but the quality of the sound at mfcc. I dont like saying these things but maybe one could keep it in mind for next time. The sound should have been impecable for the super carlos santana........he should give us another show...open air with super quality sound. (cc)

santana, an amazing artist. the quality of the sound was the only thing i was dissapointed with. From the standing area the sound was not clear at all....most of the time when all d instruments where being played at the same time, it sounded like noise and confusion.pity.as for the artist i have nothing but praise for the man and his team. Amazing.

An incredible concert from such an incredible guitarist and star, the whole band seemed to enjoy what they were doing big time. Santana's relaxed attitude makes him god like, I am really impressed. Pity that people starting booing. Just for curiosity, how can someone boo at a Santana concert? When he stepped back and raised his hands like he was asking "What happened, I did something wrong ?" I was really ashamed for the situation. I know people did not boo Santana, but for Christ's sake we were at a concert and not at a political meeting. Let's leave our ignorant attitude at home please... Thanks Santana you are a hero for us music lovers of various age groups.

Yeah good concert as everyone would expect from such an artist - however if I was Lou Bondi I wouldn't use the sentence " you took us to heaven"

Only Jesus takes people to heaven, & although I know what he meant, still we should NOT use the dwelling place of God for worldly things, as good & nice as they are. He good have said "you gave the time of our lives" or "you are the best thing that has happened in our lives so far" insted as "you took us to heaven"
