Toni Abela's indecent exposure

I am writing this post from the ITU at Mater Dei, where I have been living 24/7 with my family since Sunday evening. We are tending to Simon, my 35-year old nephew who suffered a massive heart attack and is still fighting for his life. Simon lost his mother Sandra, my sister, when he was only eight. And the years in between have not been happy ones either.

Yesterday, Toni Abela, the PL deputy leader, came over to the ITU to visit our neighbours, the ailing Mrs Mary Fenech Adami and her family. Seemingly shocked on spotting us, Toni Abela came over to show sympathy while I struggled to tell him how Simon's is a textbook case of an unfortunate life. As I escorted him to the Fenech Adami room, since he didn't know where it was, Toni Abela asked me to pluck up courage and pick myself up. I was not the Lou Bondi he knows, he told me. I thanked him and replied that flesh and blood is flesh and blood.

That was yesterday. This evening, the same Toni Abela and the PL issued a press release attacking me and Bondiplus. I say attacking, not protesting, because Toni Abela is so unconvinced of his case that he did not have the guts to take it to the Broadcasting Authority as is his and his party's right.

Enough said. There will be a place and time for defending myself against a man who wished me and my family well yesterday and then proceeded to viciously attack me without basis less than 24 hours later. But at the ITU and while my flesh and blood is fighting for his life is not it.

I thought that Toni Abela had a better sense of decency, or at least a more magnanimous sense of political timing. But wait a minute. As I'm writing this post, I received an sms from him asking about my "brother". This is the same man who calls Lawrence Gonzi insensitive. Unbelievable.

... they will never change.

They know no better. They try to make up for an intellectual deficit by spinning and using their media machine to throw shit from every direction. They now it will stick.

They have no sense of dignity; no respect for others; no compassion. There are no rules with the PL - if it anything can be turned to their political advantage they will use it.

They have one goal - power at all and any costs. They have no vision for the country, no programme of work, no sense what catastrophe their mis-management of the country and economy may have on ic-cittadin. They simply believe it is their turn to govern and will do whatever it takes.

Their perspectives on Malta, the EU and their role in our society can be summed up by that imbecile Joe Cuschieri and his statements/threats re Greece.

We really are caught between a rock and a hard place but I know which party I would rather have managing this country. With all its fault the PN has managed to give us a great standard of living in spite of all the problems within the party, within the country and within the global economy.

How sad that so few share that perspective.

while i would like to offer my support in prayers for your relative and mrs Fenech Adami in this difficult moment it is really shameful to see such actions from people who expect the electorate to trust them with the country

Shame on anyone who takes advantage of situations like these ... Lou we're with you and Warren and all of those who really care about Simon .. You're in our prayers and thoughts ... Simon does not even deserve to be mentioned in the same blog as Toni! Take good care.

Lou, I am truly sorry to hear of Simon suffering. And I can imagine what the rest of the relatives and friends are feeling, especially You.
May Jesus be with him and grant him back a healthy and content life. My prayers are for him.

As regards to Dr Abela, I have no kind words for him and his comarades. The Party needs to terminate the old rats, which he might be one of these.

You are 100% correct Lou, blood and flesh is blood and flesh....and when it came to consoling you after your tragedy, Toni showed all his empathy towards you, and like me I cannot but with your nephew, as well as all those suffering, the speediest of recoveries.

But on a business level he cannot but do his best and follow the party’s policies, who seem to think you’re nothing but a Government stringer, and with this, I agree 100% too.
